I have gone back and major improvements! It's hard to find good people I guess. Thanks Liz!

I came to the tender trap tonight for the all you can eat crab legs. the hostess at the door was nasty and rude. Crab legs were good but after serving me one of the world most succulent, luxurious, sweet meat from the sea the tender trap serves it with a cup of Yellow GREASE.and charge me $1.25 for real butter . Wait staff was great very attentive and efficient. i will take my $139.00 else were from now on!!!!!!

Here at the Tender Trap for the All You Can Eat Crablegs. Crablegs are to be served with butter but they give you "OIL" instead. You have to request "Real" butter and there is an extra charge of $1.25 per cup. This is my very last time coming to the Trap. And don't expect a friendly welcome from the mean lady that greets you at the door.

This place is very hit or miss. The waitresses tend to be very nice (although service can be slow) but the bartender is so incredibly rude and inattentive. The food and drinks are pretty good, I've had the unlimited crab legs, nachos, pizza, wings, etc and everything was tasty. The drinks are good, I really like their sangrias. As for the family-friendly aspect, I've taken my child here, but only during the day, I wouldn't bring him at night because that's when it turns into more of a bar than a restaurant.

What happened Tender Trap? Our family has been going there for over 5 years. Went for the unlimited crab legs on 2/11/15. Sadly disappointed. No longer do they serve the big pink pretty crab legs! These scrawny crab legs with black spots sealed the deal! We will no longer be spending our money there! Missy and Cookie, we will definitely miss you for your friendly and caring attitudes and service. I would feel better if we had to pay a few dollars more to get Grade A crab legs as opposed to Grade Q crab legs! Who is in the kitchen now because it just isn't the same! JOHN'S FAMILY

For unlimited crab legs, this place is great. The waiters are nice & friendly. Parking is good too. To avoid a long wait, try getting there early, because it can get crowded. They do have a bar, but the drinks are a bit pricey. Overall, it's a good place for eating unlimited crab legs on Wednesdays & Saturday's starting at 6pm.

We decided for my daughter's last night in town to go eat crab legs. My sister recommended the Tender trap restaurant. Wednesday's is the all you can eat night for crab legs. The service was excellent. Cookie our server greeted us with a smile and she was nice to talk too. The crab was sweet and they kept coming. My daughter and I had the Cajun fries. My husband had the ranch fries with a chicken noodle soup. My daughter and I had salads. I definitely will be back.

I am a somewhat regular patron here at Tender Trap, and I can't really say I have any complaints. The food is really good, (some of it is to plain but not bad otherwise) and the daily specials are what get us to frequent certain days of the week. Chili dogs and wings on Mondays and crab leg wed/sat are the best. Melissa is one of the main servers now and she always treats us great. I don't really agree that every check should include the 15% gratuity that is does but most of the time I feel our server deserves every bit of the 15% and sometimes more. As far as the family friendly part, I don't so much agree that children should frequent the place. A sports bar is exactly for that, sports and beer. I don't think parents should subject their children to potentially loud and intoxicated adults using profanity while screaming about a game, (although im sure some get that at home,)and I don't think adults should have to deal with other patrons children running around screaming and misbehaving, there are more appropriate places to take children. I have not been there for the late night weekend activities in years, but do have fond memories of weekends past even though I don't plan on gracing the dance floor anytime soon. If you are trying to decide where or not you should stop in or not based on the couple of reviews here I say go for it and make up your own mind, I don't think you will be disappointed. Cheers..

I went on a Wednesday night and had a very good experience. If this place was located in the downtown Chicago area I would have given it three stars but it's not it's in Chicago Height. If stand outside the place and do a 360 degree turn you would notice you are not standing between the Drake Hotel and Louie Vuitton store on Michigan Ave. You are on 160th something and Halsted. I don't understand the bad reviews this place received because it was better than I expected and I've been to some nice places. Go for the cheap meaty crab not the ambiance.

Three stars because the food is decent and cheap. And most days they have decent booze specials. Service is good and the bathrooms are semi-decent. I should knock them down to one star for claiming to be a "family friendly establishment". I wouldn't take my kids there, and I don't think anyone else should either. Some of the patrons are rather creepy. On any normal night this place is pretty much empty. Not sure how it stays open. Full bar, and a back room with pool tables and video games. Also connected to a cigar bar, and you can't beat the fact that they are open until 4am seven days a week. It's a decent bar for the average night out when you don't want to spend a lot of money.

I have to give this bar two stars. The fact that this bar is open until 4 am, has a very nice outside area to lounge, a dining area, dance floor, and an area to play darts and pools automatically gives them two stars. The place is clean. The problem is with the bartenders and customers. The service here sucks. The bartenders give you attitude especially when there are a lot of orders. Regardless customer service is always about being pleasant and putting the customer first. Some of the customers are creepy. Very uncomfortable. There is also favoritism of regular customers vs new potential regular customers .

Why is this place still open? I've live near here for over 10 yrs and in all this time Never a good thing to say about it. Service sucks, prices suck, this place suck! Doesn't deserve a star but they made me :-(

Had a first date there. Friendly wait staff, good food, great prices but they put the 15% gratuity in your final bill. Guess they feel all black folks don't tip. Good thing the waitress was worth it. I will be back though Oh great prices for drinks open space and plenty of TVs..

My review is based on the bar. This was my second time here. Its not a place where you plan on having an extravagant evening, it is a place you end up at, after an extravagant evening! The beer is cheap and the people were friendly. They have security at the door, so have your id ready. I wouldn't mind ending up here again!

Will never return to Tender Trap! They have the worst service ever! Waitresses, hostess, helpers, and even the owner all have nasty attitudes and poor customer service. The environment is terrible! The owner is very rude and doesn't care at all about pleasing customers. After a food critic endorsed them their customer service went completely down. The bathrooms are never clean.I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This restaurant doesn't even deserve 1star.

This is the worst bar I have ever been 2.!!! As soon as we walked in the door we smelled stank fish like the crabs weren't fresh and we should've left then. The service is horrible, the waiters are terrible and very unprofessional and the food is disgusting.! I ordered 10 Cajun hot wings and I received them too fast but I just figured maybe they was good at what they do. But NO that wasn't the case...my wings tasted sweet not hot at all.! So I returned my food and I didn't eat. My drink was alright but the best thing was the $1 shots of sex on the beach.! My other 2 friends ordered steak quesadillas and our waitress didn't tell us that they charge $3 if you want meat. So they charge 6.75 for ONLY CHEESE quesadillas. Are you kidding me!!!!! Then we got the bill and it was $83.! Now the price didn't bother us because we had the money but they had charged us a 15% gratuity fee which was $10 for only 3 people. I thought gratuity was for 6 or more.!! But I kno one thing is for sure I WILL NOT be returning EVER.!!!! I wish I could give no stars.!

Not much to say about the restaurant side of the trap. Food is decent. Ya can catch a good burger there for lunch maybe evan stop by for an early dinner. Food is priced cheap and there is a game room to waste some time and money in on that note During the day it is a mild mannored family dinning establisment but at night.....It becomes....duh duh duhhhhhh.... The Trap, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Let me start off by saying i am not a huge fan of places that have, at least, 2 armed police officers at the door. If you end up at the trap its because its after last call at all the other bars in the area, so this is the major leagues of drinking. Fights are common. Booze is fairly priced. The Casper Slide seems to be stuck on repeat every time i go there. If your a girl prepare to be groped by every thug and playa in there. If your a guy plan on having your girl groped by every thug and playa in there. When the crack security guards start herding you out of there and you finally manage to get your head out of the toilet after a long night...be sure to grab a straw and stop by the in house breathe-alizer conveniently located right next to the bathrooms and the creepy lady who sells roses. Well i guess it cant be that bad if i have ended up there on more than one occasion can it??? I say to you stay away. STAY FAR AWAY.

I would like to know when is gratuity added when only 2 are dining? The drinks were ok, but the crab legs smelled "fishy" so there fore were not fresh. For a meal that cost over $132.00, we could have had a nice meal downtown in the Chicago area. I will not return.

sadly, i ended up here at about 2 AM on new year's early morn. Let me clarify. New year's 2008. Yet they insisted on playing music from circa 2002. When I die and go to hell, it might just be here.

I don't know about these other reviews - anyone in a bar after 2AM in the morning will appear to be "wretched scum". ANYWAY - If you want fresh, all-you-can-eat crab legs for $30 and inexpensive drinks, this place has you covered. Oh, I forgot to mention that The Tender Trap has some of THE BEST bread pudding you'd ever taste! I have taken family members there for treats/b-day parties/etc. - and my family (which includes a 2 year old) visits frequently. We've had no issues with the patrons there, so maybe this isn't the place to go clubbing. But visit The Trap on Saturdays for all-you-can-eat crab legs, ranch-flavored french fries, and fluffy bread pudding. You WILL be satisfied!
